Privacy

This record is about living people as well as those who have passed away, so it is handled carefully.

What is stored

Names, dates and places of birth and death, marriages, family links, occupations, photographs and notes contributed by family members. Accounts store a name, an email address and a hashed password — passwords themselves are never stored.

Who can see what

• Visitors who are not signed in see the public tree, and never the exact birth dates of people who are still living.
• Signed-in family members see the approved tree in full.
• A branch that someone is still working on is visible only to its owner and the administrators, until it is approved.
• Notes marked private are visible only to the people who can edit that record.

Corrections and removal

If something here about you or your family is wrong, or you would rather not appear at all, write to the site administrator and it will be corrected or removed.

Record keeping

Changes to the tree are logged with the account that made them, so a mistake can be traced and undone. Those logs are visible only to administrators.
